Graham Dawson is the new president of Spalding Rotary Club

Members, partners and Honorary Members came to watch the President’s handover of the Spalding Rotary Club held at the Woodlands Hotel in Spalding. Past President Sarah Chalcraft handed over the Presidents Chain to the incoming President Graham Dawson.
Sarah thanked all the members for their support over the year and wished the incoming President Graham Dawson continued success.
President Graham also thanked the outgoing club officers, Secretary John Syson and Assistant Secretary Melvyn Price, who have both held their posts for the last three years. They will be superseded by John Ralph and Howard Gelley respectively. The Club Treasurer, David Reynolds, will remain in post.
Ambitious year ahead
New president Graham stated we have an ambitious year ahead of us and that he and the new incoming team of club officers and project leaders will continue to support the existing projects as well as several new community initiatives and fund raising events which will allow the club to support includes local charities and environmental causes.
In addition there are several youth projects including the Lets Sing choir Competition for Junior Schools; the YoungChef competition and the Let’s Make Music competition for senior sschools.
Spalding Rotary Club are also sponsoring a student from Spalding Grammar school to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards which is a week long leadership course held at Grafham Water
Chosen Charities
President Graham also announced his chosen charities for the new Rotary year which are:
Rock School Bus – A local youth organisation that gives hope and encouragement to disaffected young people by learning music and singing.
Breast Cancer Now – Graham’s mother died from breast cancer and he wishes to encourage sponsorship for this worthwhile cause.
Defibrillator Purchase – There is shortage of life saving units in Spalding. Graham is hoping that the club can raise enough money to purchase at least one unit.
