Rotarian Graham Dawson, who organised everything on behalf of
Spalding Rotary Club said, “This is one of our flagship annual
events, and we are grateful for everyone who continues to help us to achieve this, especially our long-standing sponsors South Lincs Food Service”
Judge, Tom Hannam from Peterborough Catering College, a professional in Catering at Inspire Educational Group said “The competition was very tight with only one point between the first, second and third places. The standard this year was very high, and all the competitors achieved very good results in their preparation, presentation and flavour of their ingredients. They should all be proud of their achievement.”
Judging covered all items involved in the creation of a professional meal within an £18.00 budget and a 90-minute timeframe, including Menu, Presentation of the Table and food, Healthy choice of ingredients, Safety and Hygiene, and the Taste of both courses.
The event is just one of many being held in the Rotary 1070 District which covers East Midlands, including South Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Rutland and parts of Cambridgeshire. The finalist will be entered into the District Finals which will take place in 22nd February 2025 at Loughborough College.
President Sarah said, “This event was a great pleasure, and that Spalding Rotary Club are very grateful to Head of Food Preparation Nutrition at Spalding High School for providing and preparing the superb facilities for the competition.”
